New Balance Upgrades the Cult-Loved 550 With Patent Leather

In three squeaky clean new colorways.

New year, new New Balance. That’s how the saying goes, right? Right? Whichever way you look at it, New Balance is embracing the sentiment by giving us the gift of a brand new 550 silhouette, this time constructed with shiny patent leather.

Since the chunky sneaker first made its debut, it’s become a cult-loved classic among sneaker minimalists and now, it’s coming back in a big way. Landing in three new colorways of white, black and blue, the reimagined silhouette is crafted from glossy leather, complete with a shiny “N” panel logo alongside patent mudguards, heels and overlays.

Elsewhere, classic branding remains across the shoes’ “NB” tag, insoles and heel. Each colorway sits atop a crisp white midsole, paired with either a black or blue outsole and finished with a pair of classic white laces.

Take a closer look at the new patent leather New Balance 550s above, slated for release in the coming months. Each colorway is set to be priced at $120 USD each.

In other footwear news, these were the biggest SNKRS launches of 2023.
