Fani Parali Studies "Children of the Future" in Her New Cooke Latham Gallery Exhibition

On view until June 2.

Known for celebrating emerging creatives across mediums, Cooke Latham Gallery‘s latest exhibition will showcase London-based artist, Fani Parali. Since graduating from Camberwell College of Art and receiving a postgraduate from the Royal Academy Schools, the artist has had a keen eye on societal challenges faced by young people; materializing them into a cross-medium discipline including sculpture, sound and movement.

In her new exhibition dubbed “Children of the Future,” Parali hones in on the growing relationship between man and machine, addressing concerns “surrounding the ramifications of unbridled technological progress on future generations” while adding “a nod to the myriad possible futures that technology presents and the possible redemption it could hold for our species,” according to a press statement.
Fani Parali,

The artist makes this sentiment tangible through an immersive experience combining metal framed artworks, ancient Greek-inspired sculptures, audio and a lip-synched opera performance; which will be unveiled at private viewing the night before the exhibition opens. The soundscape will embody a call-and-response between “the ‘children’ (the performers) and the ‘machine’ (of the gallery);” ultimately asking viewers to question the future world in which next generations will inherit.

On the exhibition concept, Parali shares in a press release: “A water opera inhabited only by children; these anarchic guardians of a vulnerable yet resistant realm speak back at the machine and raise primordial dens within its high-tech bowels.”
Fani Parali,
The exhibition will be open to the public from April 26 to June 2. For more information, head over to the Cooke Latham Gallery website.
