Paloma Elsesser Uses These 5 Products Before Shooting a Swimsuit Campaign

From phone apps to facial devices, we take a peek into the model’s routine.

Paloma Elsesser has made an undeniable name for herself as she’s grown in her modeling career, most recently accepting the Model of the Year award at the 2023 Fashion Awards. Aside from her fierce face and alluring aura, the model is an advocate for mid-size and plus-size models and women worldwide.

Her resume includes the catwalks of high-profile designers and campaigns of notable beauty brands; now she’s lending her essence to Victoria’s Secret as the face of its iconic “Bombshell” franchise.

The model is also featured in the brand’s campaign for its new “Summer Escapes” swimwear collection. Victoria’s Secret is ushering in a new era of swimwear with cover-ups, corset tops, sets and more inspired by design aesthetics from the ’90s and early ’00s.

Ahead, the model tells Hypebae her must-have products before stepping onto any photoshoot set, what it means to be the new face of Victoria’s Secret’s Bombshell franchise, her favorite nostalgic beauty trends and more.

If model life is your vibe, check out our coverage of American model Ciara Consiglio’s take on what it means to be a mid-size model.

On what it means to be the new face of the iconic “Bombshell” franchise

Bombshell Eau de Parfum is all about celebrating your total, unapologetic self. This is my second time shooting a bombshell fragrance and each time it is an invitation to embrace so many parts of myself. I get to explore my sexiness, my playfulness, my shyness and my strength. I believe all of those qualities are what make up a bombshell. I had such a beautiful day shooting with Candice and an all-femme-led team!

On her favorite body-glow products

I love any highly moisturizing, thick lotion topped with a [body] oil. Despite most people going to Nuxe for the oil, I find myself constantly using their body moisturizing lotion and topping it with an oil from Buly 1803, particularly their verbena and basil.

On her favorite swimsuits from the “Summer Escapes” collection

The swimsuits and cover-ups inspired by the ’00s are just so good. Style and comfort are key for me when it comes to picking out swimwear and the VS Archives Swim Sexy Tee High-Neck Push Up Bikini Top and Strappy Hipster Brazilian Bikini Bottoms are the perfect mix of sexy and supportive. The macramé fringe bikinis and monokinis are also really chic.

On her favorite fashion and beauty trends from ’90s and early ’00s

I’ve always loved ’90s and ’00s style—everything from the scant garde to minimalism, silk slips or skirts and lots of denim. I’m always here for the revival! As far as beauty, I love having a 90’s fresh, dewy skin moment—it never goes out of style. It’s like revisiting old favorites with a fresh perspective.
