Flo Health Releases New Orgasm Report

Revealing new stats on the pleasure gap.

Leading menstruation tracker app, Flo Health, releases its largest orgasm study.

Following the launch of Flo for Partners, an in-app feature to enhance couples’ sex lives, Flo dives deep into the pleasure gap. Coined by Dr. Laurie Mintz, the orgasm gap is mostly used in reference to heterosexual relationships. Its a phenomenon where men are reportedly having more orgasms than women. Aiming to disband the orgasm gap, Flo “pledges 2024 as the year dedicated to pioneering research in this field, aiming to fill crucial gaps in research and promote a more informed
approach to women’s sexual health.”

In its new study, Flo found that the orgasm gap is still thriving despite best efforts from the sexual wellness industry. “Women spend at least 436 more hours per lifetime than men reaching climax,” the statistics revealed. One third of men, about 31% “believe that most women can orgasm from vaginal stimulation alone.” The issue is that “in reality, only 18.4% of women orgasm just from vaginal stimulation,” and the remainder prefer clitoral stimulation. Ironically, Dr. Mintz believes the orgasm gap can be attributed a large factor: lack of clitoral education — ahem, men not being able to find the clit.

The study also revealed that 29% of women reported feeling “embarrassed to talk to their partner about what they like during sex,” while “18% of US women feeling that masturbation is shameful or wrong.”

Flo’s certified sex therapist, Jordan Rullo, says:

“As a sex therapist I frequently encounter women expressing concerns about taking too long to reach orgasm. When I hear this, I ask “compared to whom?” Unfortunately, society and social media often sell men’s sexual function as the ideal, but the fact that women take nearly three times as long as men to reach orgasm does not necessarily indicate a problem, it is simply a difference. Our study will aim to break the stigma surrounding these differences, recalibrate societal expectations, and empower women worldwide by normalizing the variety of orgasm experiences.”

In other news, live matchmaking is making its comeback.
