Charlie Le Mindu Turned Hair Into High Fashion at Coachella

The stylist partnered with method to craft full-body suits entirely from human hair.

At this year’s Coachella, method teamed up with fashion‘s favorite hairstylist, Charlie Le Mindu, to create an unforgettable piece of art — living, breathing hair suits.

Inspired by the brand’s extended haircare range (“Island Mist,” “Mindful Matcha,” “Coco Twist and “Simply Nourish”), each suit embodied method’s fun and expressive ethos. “When I first met with the method team, I immediately felt this vibrant energy — playful, creative and colorful,” Le Mindu told Hypebae. “That’s something you can’t fake and it was so clearly embedded in the brand and the people behind it. So, when they said they wanted to collaborate to bring their new haircare products to life, their energy inspired me to think outside the box and bring that same vibrancy to life in a physical, wearable form.”

This energy took shape through head-to-toe creations made entirely of human hair, ethically sourced from around the world to achieve a spectrum of texture, movement and performance. “I wanted them to feel like a literal embodiment of method’s personality,” said Le Mindu. For the first time in his career, he introduced bright color into his designs, leaning into the visual identity of each haircare formula.

Le Mindu personally tested and styled them using method’s haircare products, noting how the line stood out not just for its effectiveness, but for how it made the entire process a sensory experience. “The products didn’t just work — they smelled incredible and had this rich, luxurious lather.”

Each piece took two to three weeks to bring to life, culminating in their reveal at method’s “Dream in the Desert” VIP party. With Charli XCX headlining the Coachella festival, one suit in particular — the green inspired by the “Mindful Matcha” shampoo and conditioner was a personal favorite of Le Mindu’s. “I knew that she would be performing and she always brings a strong visual point of view. So, I had to do a ‘brat’ green — it felt like [...] a cultural moment that couldn’t be ignored.”

“It wasn’t just about making something pretty — it was about showing off method’s products in an unexpected way.” The hairstylist worked closely with the method team through late nights and test runs to ensure the suits could perform in the high-energy festival atmosphere. “Everything mattered — how the hair moved in the wind, how it caught the desert light, how the colors would interact with the landscape.”
