This Custom Air Jordan 1 Pays Homage to Matcha Green Tea
Calling all matcha lovers.
Photographer @Ryustyler shares his sneaker and food pairings for a series on Instagram titled, #DeliciousKicks. Days ago he unveiled his latest creation which came to life through a collaboration with sneaker designer Chase Shiel. The collab saw the customization of the iconic, Air Jordan 1, directly inspired by matcha and popularly used in Japan for traditional tea ceremonies. The construction of the sneaker included four premium leathers which ultimately resulted in tonal green shades reminiscent of the popular tea.
Detailing also features a leather-lined interior, nubuck and pig suede which were custom dyed in Japan in addition to custom tongue tags. Accents also include cream lacing paired with gold aglets and laser-engraved dubraes. Rounding out the shoe are Italian-woven cotton tabs on the heels and an embossed stamp.
At the moment, the “Matcha” Air Jordan 1 which priced out at $970 USD is currently sold out. Each pair came with a bamboo tea whisk and an embroidered suede dust bag. Head over Chase Shiel’s website to learn more. Take a look at the design in the gallery above.
