Nike‘s Air Jordan 1 silhouette has been around for more than 30 years – yet remains one of the most iconic and loved sneakers within the streetwear community. During the past year, we’ve seen women like Aleali May team up with the famous brand to create her own colorway, paving the way for a lot of women’s Jordan silhouettes to debut in the future.
In this week’s “One Item Two Ways” we’re taking a look at two different ways of wearing the famous sneaker, focusing on Aleali May’s “Shadow Satin” colorway that debuted in 2017. Edgy Chic
When it comes to rocking a pair of Jordans, we want the sneaker to be in focus. The laid back, streetwear aesthetic of the shoe works perfectly with a pair of simple, black sweatpants and an edgy crop top in a bold color to balance out the over-sized silhouette. A pair of cute socks always work, especially when they match your top. Finish off the look with an eye-catching bag like this one from Alexander Wang, and a sharp eyeliner wing and you’re ready to go.
Mix and Match
Whoever said you can’t dress up sneakers, clearly had no clue what they were talking about. Juxtapose the sporty Jordan shoe with a simple, little black dress, and throw on a casual grey hoodie to match the sneakers. Of course, a pair of white socks are the perfect addition to the basketball aesthetic of the sneaker, and work perfectly in this look. To add a luxury touch to the simple fit, add a bag as a pop of color as well as some lipstick, and you’ll be street style ready in no time.
