Celebrate the Year of the Dog with Items from Gucci, Levi's and Converse
Happy Chinese New Year!
It’s the eve of Chinese New Year and the festivities are set to begin soon. The celebration, also referred to as the Spring Festival, marks the turn of the lunisolar calendar. With a new moon, comes a day-long party that includes lights, fireworks and of course gifts. Lunar New Year is no different for 2018 which is marked as the Year of the Dog.
In honor of the holiday, brands have begun to produce items that are covered in red, gold and cute dog insignia to bring some luck for the new year. We’ve rounded up our favorite drops for the new year. Peep them below.
Converse
Converse’s “Solar” pack was inspired by the legend of the Tiangou Eclipse. The colors and shapes in the collection all reference the myth and match the colors of the Spring Festival. The One Star is debuted in a series of colors each arriving with interchangeable patch logosfor the lateral. A bomber, hoodie and leggings are also included to match the new footwear. Shoppers can find the entire haul at Converse now for between $35 to $100 USD.
Dover Street Market
Dover Street Market tapped some of our favorite brands to release an exclusive capsule of Year of the Dog T-shirts. BAPE and Stüssy deliver their own take on a dog-inspired graphic that we see stamped on short-sleeved tees. Items from the line will be available on February 16 at the brand’s webstore.
Dr. Martens
Dr. Martens has released a limited-edition colorway of the brand’s 1460 boots. White thread detailing is replaced with a vibrant gold and red stitching. A gold foil dog motif is also printed on the tongue to complement the shoe’s black base. A lucky red heel loop and gold eyelets complete the pair which is boosted with the brand’s AirWair technology. Find your size at Dr. Martens now where it retails for $190 USD.
Gucci
How much do you love your pups? Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele pledged his love to his Boston terries, Bosco and Orso, by pasting their faces on nearly every item in Gucci’s “Year of the Dog” collection. Denim, skirts, bags and more all hold adorable images of the pets alongside vintage insignia. Dog lovers can pick up items like the bomber and wristlet in stores and online.
Levi’s
Levi’s tapped the world’s favorite dog to be its mascot for its Lunar New Year collection. Graphics of Peanuts‘ Snoopy are printed onto a crewneck sweater, tote and bandana for the holiday. Fans will be able to shop the full range on the first day of the Chinese New Year.
Louis Vuitton

Lousi Vuitton
Louis Vuitton has launched a super cute range of bags, wallets and fragrance for the Year of the Dog. Each item references the dog motif or has a strong color profile to match the celebration. Our favorite items in the line include the brand’s bumbag and the Venice pouch. Those looking for gifts should definitely consider this collection which is currently available online.
Moschino
Moschino’s limited-edition Lunar New Year collection has everything you need for the holiday. We see a back pack, T-shirt dress and phone case all updated with a cute cartoon dog. The brand’s text logo is also emblazoned on each item in a reflective gold to match the holiday’s decor. Fans can pick up pieces from the six-piece range at Moschino’s online shop.
