Adwoa Aboah Bares All on the Cover of 'Allure' Magazine
The model shares her personal struggles with mental health.
It was only in December 2017 that Adwoa Aboah graced the cover of British Vogue, which was also Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful’s debut issue. Now, the model has stripped down to front Allure magazine where she also opens up about her seemingly rapid ascent in the fashion world and struggles with mental health.
Aboah has always been a fierce advocate for mental health and is unabashed in her quest to open the conversation around depression, anxiety, antidepressants, sex and more. This has been bolstered with the creation of her platform, Gurls Talk, which she hopes will be a safe space for women worldwide to discuss their feelings and personal experiences around these topics.
Alongside the stunning cover and accompanying editorial in Allure, Aboah also touches on the perils of living in the age of social media, stating:
“It’s mental. It’s detrimental to everyone. Who is more successful, or rich, or beautiful — you’ll always be able to pick it out. Why didn’t I go to that party? You didn’t want to go in the first place. I try not to spend a lot of time on it.”
It’s refreshing to know that even the model of the moment really is just like the rest of us. You can catch this issue of Allure on newsstands from March 27 – hear Adwoa discuss mental health further in this short film.
