The Virgil Abloh x Nike Air Jordan 1 Gets Dipped in Red
Peep the custom kicks.
After releasing the covetable “The Ten” collection last year, Nike and Off-White™ designer Virgil Abloh have been working around the clock to produce more must-have iterations of the popular sneakers. We’ve seen the Air VaporMax Flyknit take on both a black and a white colorway, as well as many rumored versions of the skateboard-inspired Blazer Mid, with many more expected to release down the line. In February, the Swoosh dropped the anticipated Nike x Virgil Abloh Air Jordan 1 in “White,” and the minimal basketball shoe quickly became one of the most sought-after on the market.
Now, designer and it-girl Chiara Capitani has just shared a custom version of the white shoe, this time getting fully dipped in a red dye. The previously white crep is shown during the dyeing process, giving the upper a deep red hue whereas the leather detailing shows up as a muted red, almost pink, color. The custom design was done with retailer One Block Down, and was first shown on Capitani’s Instagram. Although the shoe is a one-of-one custom, we can only hope that the lush colorway will give Virgil Abloh some ideas for his next sneaker drop.
