Why We’re Ditching Sneakers This Summer

It’s time for something new.

A long-awaited shift in seasons reawakens the perennial question: what sneakers should you cop for the summer? Unlike years past, this summer I’ve elected to go against the grain and ditch sneakers for the freedom of the often-overlooked essential that is the sandal.

Sidestepping the now-classic coupling of sundresses and sneakers, challenge yourself to style your bottom half with some tube socks and a utilitarian slipper. Or instead, try for a more feminine strappy sandal and consider combining this item with a swishy track pant or basketball shorts to harmonize a sport-meets-feminine look. Get creative with your socks and accessories, too. Add on some anklets and toe rings to a hard sandal. The expansion of assortments and combinations that we can now employ allows and motivates us to think outside the box in terms of styling. So let us all embrace that as we continue on.

Now we’re not telling you that it’s time to get rid of your kicks. However, if you want to take the leap and stray off the beaten path, we encourage you to cop a pair of sandals that speak to you. Scroll through some of our most coveted selects below.
