Listen to Billie Eilish's New Heartbreaking Single, "wish you were gay"
Arriving ahead of her debut album.
Billie Eilish has released a new single from her debut album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?. “wish your were gay” is a personal love note to an unrequited lover. Eilish sings:
“Baby, I don’t feel so good / Six words you never understood / I’ll never let you go / Five words you never say / I laugh alone like nothing’s wrong / Four days has never felt so long,” Eilish croons. “If three’s a crowd and two was us / One slipped away / I just wanna make you feel okay / But all you do is look the other way / I can’t tell you how much I wish I didn’t wanna stay / I just kinda wish you were gay.”
The pop ballad was co-written three years ago with her brother FINNEAS. She shares more on the song’s inspiration:
“I wrote this song about a guy that really was not interested in me and it made me feel horrible, so the song is called “wish you were gay. And that’s so not meant to be offensive in any way … it literally means I wish he was gay so that he didn’t like me for an actual reason, instead of the fact that he didn’t like me.”
Stream the new single and be sure to mark your calendars for the March 29 release of her album. Also, catch Eilish on the latest episode of Sneaker Shopping where she shares her favorite Jordan Brand silhouettes.
