Graffiti Artist eL Seed Teams up With MAC on Street-Inspired Makeup Collab

The newest range features art-centric pieces.

MAC Cosmetics has announced the upcoming release of its new collaboration with street artist and sculptor eL Seed. The limited-edition line includes four lipsticks, four pink coated makeup brushes, a full face kit, a golden highlighter and a makeup bag.

In the planning stages ahead of the collab, eL Seed was given complete creative freedom. A product of Parisian suburbs, eL Seed used graffiti and his love for hip hop culture as a means of expression through Arabic calligraphy. His work has been seen in New York, Dubai and Paris. With this new range, he hopes to inspire budding artists to release their inner creativity. He handpicked his signature colors high-octane pink and black as the color palette for the collection. MAC’s Senior Artist Mariam Khairallah was also instrumental in creating the line, she worked alongside Seed to translate his color palette into a bright, pigmented trendy hues.

When speaking of the range he shared:

“I draw my inspiration directly from the streets and from the communities in each location I’m painting. The calligraphy I paint are words infused with profound meaning. Their universal messages cross cultures to inspire and reinvigorate neighborhoods.”

The eL Seed x MAC collection will be available in-store in North America on April 8. An online release will follow on April 11 at MAC’s web store. Pricing starts at $19.50 USD. Take a look at the pieces in the gallery above.
