Travis Scott Donates Merch Sales to Planned Parenthood
In response to Alabama’s implementation of House Bill 314.
Recently during his set at the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama, Travis Scott declared that he would be making a donation to Planned Parenthood. You may remember back in March when the rapper unveiled new merch at three New York City pop-ups.
In a video, Scott shared that the profits from his merch sold during the festival would go directly to the non-profit organization. “We feel for those in Alabama. I love you all. I just want everyone to know that love is the strongest thing that we can have…” He said this statement mid-set while in front of an LCD screen. He later said: “So to anyone out there — man, woman — I wanna dedicate this song to you,” he added before starting his single with SZA “Love Galore.”
His statement follows Alabama’s newly-implemented, HB 314, a law that makes abortion a Class A felony while attempted abortion is classified as a Class C felony. It bans doctors from performing any abortion procedures within state lines, and individuals who provide any operations will receive jail time. Notably the law also states that victims of rape will not be given the option to abort their unborn child.
