Facebook Is Adding Its Name to Instagram and Whatsapp

Appearing in Apple’s App Store and Google Play soon.

According to The Information, Facebook will be renaming Instagram and Whatsapp, which has been reported by three people familiar with the situation. Sources say that the apps will soon be renamed to “Instagram from Facebook” and “Whatsapp from Facebook.”

Facebook’s spokeswoman Bertie Thomson confirmed the rebranding of both apps: “We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook,” she told the publication. Mark Zuckerberg has apparently been frustrated that his company hasn’t been receiving the credit that it deserves when it comes to Instagram and Whatsapp. So by renaming them, he hopes that it could improve Facebook’s brand with consumers.

Just like the recent title change of the social network giant’s VR brand, Oculus, expect Instagram and Whatsapp’s new names to appear in Apple’s App Store and Google Play soon. In other entertainment news, Facebook will reportedly release a TV streaming and video chat hybrid device soon.
