YouTube Is Launching Shoppable Videos

Buy items directly from the video platform using new Google software.

As social media is becoming the easiest way to sell items, YouTube is rumored to become the next website to introduce a shoppable feature on-platform. Parent company Google is looking to make YouTube a “major shopping destination,” as reported by Bloomberg, adding that content creators will be able to use YouTube’s own software to track and tag products featured in their videos.

Similar to Instagram‘s in-app launch of the shopping feature, content creators will be in charge of what products they decide to feature. As of now, the feature is being tested on a handful of channels and is allowing viewers to watch a clip, then purchase the products directly from YouTube through shopping tools generated and hosted by Google.

Stay tuned as the feature has yet to roll out worldwide. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
