Christina Aguilera Revisits "Dirrty" Era With Iconic Fit at the 2021 People's Choice Awards

Recreating the look nearly 20 years later — chaps included.

Christina Aguilera is so iconic, she referenced herself at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards Tuesday night. The singer wore an outfit that resembles her ensemble from her “Dirrty” days back in 2002.

Aguilera’s first look of the night was a black and yellow fit featuring some chaps. The pop star even recreated the matching hair, too. In addition to bringing back that Y2K fashion, she performed a medley of her classic hits including “Genie in a Bottle,” “Dirrty,” “Ain’t No Other Man,” “Fighter,” “Can’t Hold Us Down,” “Beautiful” and more. She also accepted the Music Icon Award.

“What an exceptional honor,” she said in her acceptance speech. “To be standing here receiving an award with the word ‘icon’ is truly surreal. I have always strived for my music to communicate messages of empowerment, whether it’s speaking my own truths or giving voice to those unable to do so on their own. My artistry has always been for the fighters in this world, for those who face adversity, for those wanting to evoke change, my music is for you.”

“Believing in yourself is often the biggest obstacle of all, and throughout the years I’ve heard your stories about the impact of songs like ‘Beautiful,’ ‘Fighter,’ ‘Can’t Hold Us Down,’ and yes, even ‘Dirrty,’” Xtina continued. “Thank you for your stories. Thank you for listening. And thank you for fighting. You inspire me every day.”
