Dishoom Collaborates With Chila Burman for Diwali
On display at the beloved restaurant’s Borough location.
Dinner with a side of neon, anyone? Beloved London restaurant Dishoom is lighting up for Diwali with a dazzling installation by Chila Burman MBE, glowing across its Borough Market café and its neighbouring railway arches through December.
Bringing the Festival of Lights to Dishoom’s newest London spot, the glowing works riff on Bollywood, South Asian pop culture and pay tribute to Chila’s Punjabi roots. Featuring several bright designs like Laxmi perched on her lotus, a rainbow diya and a dancing princess channelling fireworks, the artwork is complete with playful words and phrases like “Shine,” “Kismet” and “2 + 2 Equals Whatever.”
If the style feels familiar, it should. Burman previously lit up Tate Britain’s façade, and back in 2023 she brought her vibrant visuals to the world of streetwear. Her Palace collaboration debuted in the skate brand’s Winter 2023 season as an exclusive all-over print on a puffer jacket and long-sleeved shirt.
Take a look at the vibrant designs above and stop by the Borough location for a closer look.
