Finn Wolfhard Responds to 'Stranger Things' Fan Theory That Will Is Gay
Many seem to believe that Noah Schnapp’s character considers coming out to his best friend, Mike.
With the premiere of the fourth season, viewers have noticed that the series could possibly give an answer to the theories. In Episode 5, Will seems to be considering opening up to his best friend Mike (Finn Wolfhard), as he says: “Sometimes I think it’s just scary to open up like that, to say how you really feel, especially to people you care about the most, because what if they don’t like the truth?”
In a conversation with Digital Spy, Wolfhard addressed the fan theory: “Yeah. I think you find out slowly through the season, Will’s kind of love towards Mike and I think it’s a really beautiful thing.” He added that “there’s probably a mutual understanding and an acceptance” in the two characters’ friendship.
It’s worth noting that back in Season 3, Mike tells Will: “[It's] not my fault you don’t like girls.” Wolfhard spoke of the scene in 2019: “There were a lot of different versions of that scene. We tried, ‘It’s not my fault you don’t like girls yet.’ So, we did a bunch of different things to it, and it was up to the Duffers.”
Season 4: Volume 1 of Stranger Things is now available on Netflix. The second volume will release on July 1.
