Beyoncé's Sultriest 'Renaissance' Track "Thique" Spent 8 Years in the Making
According to producer Hit-Boy.
In August 2021, Beyoncé revealed she had spent a year working on Renaissance. While that may be true for the majority of the LP, which dropped in July 2022, there’s an exception: the track “Thique.”
According to Hit-Boy, who produced the song, “Thique” was literally made back in 2014 because Beyoncé decided to shelve the beat and save it for later. “I had to sit on that beat for eight years!” Hit-Boy revealed on Rolling Stone‘s Music Now podcast. “That’s the way the game goes sometimes. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in the game and certain people will perceive like, ‘Oh, where’s Hit-Boy been? What’s Hit-Boy been doing?’”
He continued,”But then I’m sitting on stuff like ‘Thique’ that just hasn’t materialized yet. Y’all don’t even know how ahead I really am. I’ve been holding onto legendary stuff, and there’s plenty more.”
