Sorry Baes, Jessica Chastain Won’t Be Joining the ‘7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo'
Chastain says there’s “zero chance” of joining #booktok’s favorite LGBTQIA+ love story.
When news broke that Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestseller “7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” would be adapted into a Netflix series, #booktok quite literally lost their shit. High off of their manifestation skills, the fanbase took this opportunity to request actor Jessica Chastain as Celia St. James, the main character, Evelyn Hugo’s deepest love — out of seven.
After teasing that she’d love to join in January 2023, Chastain flipped the script during an E! News interview and revealed that there’s “zero chance” of her joining the cast. “But I love how excited the fans are,” she said. ”When I was working on Broadway, every single day, they’d be outside, when I was signing, with the books. I just love how wonderful that fan base is.”

The news may come as a surprise as the The Help actor told Andy Cohen she would be interested in joining the cast. ”I do know there is an online thing about it,” she said on Watch What Happens Live in January 2023.”Send me a script.”
Unfortunately, fans of Evelyn Hugo and Celia St. James’ whirlwind romance won’t be getting the collab of their dreams. She did add, however, “I look forward to watching it and I’m sorry to disappoint everyone out there!”

The book follows magazine writer, Monique Grant, as she receives the offer of a lifetime: to write the biography of Hollywood icon, Evelyn Hugo.
