JJJJound and New Balance Unveil the Gorpiest 2002R Yet
The first of its kind to be crafted with GORE-TEX.
JJJJound and New Balance are back with another collaboration, following a longstanding partnership that’s so far lasted five years. Now, it appears the sneaker duo are going gorp for 2024, announcing the first New Balance silhouette to be crafted with GORE-TEX.
Out of all its previous JJJJound team-ups, which have included the 990v3, 990v4, 991, 992, the 2002R is the first to be designed with the classic waterproof membrane. Teased on Instagram via sneaker leaker @winglee0330, the new shoe fuses simplicity and functionality with style, opting for a grey and black color scheme complete with a suede midfoot and mesh overlays.
Elsewhere, the sneaker features hiking-inspired bungee laces, alongside a small branded tag on its lateral collar, which explains the shoe’s waterproof construction. Finally, all-black midsoles and outsoles round out the gorpcore look.
