Basketcase and New Balance Give the Gator Run a Soccer-Inspired Makeover
World Cup-ready sneakers for the summer.
Following the success of their previous 204L partnership, California-based streetwear label Basketcase is reuniting with New Balance to give the archival Gator Run silhouette a major World Cup style upgrade. Titled “The Alternates” pack, this gorgeous drop seamlessly merges soccer aesthetics with everyday, city-girl chic.
The collection features two beautifully distinct colorways. Leading the charge is “Hacky,” a playful, texture-heavy dream that blends vibrant yellow side panels with shaggy green suede overlays perfectly mimicking a lush football pitch. It rests on a classic gum rubber outsole with a jagged tooth-pattern tread and is topped off with mixed green-and-yellow laces and a little badge pin.
For the minimalists, the “Maiden” colorway offers a much cleaner, refined alternative. It swaps out the bold hues for a palette of muted neutrals accented by soft, subtle pops of color, making it a versatile staple for your weekly sneaker rotation. Both pairs beautifully preserve the silhouette’s technical DNA with a sculpted midsole while elevating it with a high-fashion edge.
The Basketcase x New Balance Gator Run “The Alternates” pack will be available to purchase starting June 12 on the Basketcase website, with a wider release landing on the New Balance website on June 19.
In other news, Empty Behavior and ASICS dropped a ruffled sneaker collaboration.
