Merit and Completedworks Launch Jewelry Collection, Inspired by Fragrance

Beauty and accessories unite in perfect harmony.

Merit, the clean and vegan beauty brand known for its easy-to-use products, and UK-based jewelry brand Completedworks have announced a collaborative accessories and gift set collection inspired by Merit’s fragrance, “Retrospect.”

“At Merit, we view fragrance as an accessory. So, it’s no surprise that, when thinking about how to continue the story around our ‘Retrospect,’ we knew jewelry was a natural part of the story,” said Aila Morin, CMO of Merit, in a statement to the press. “I’ve been a fan of Completedworks for years — I have a few pieces that I rarely take off and we’ve used them many times in shoots. They immediately came to mind as a brand that could capture the ethos and design language of ‘Retrospect.’”

Drawing from the perfume‘s sculptural bottle, the collection includes two new earring offerings with gold, silver and pearls, as well as a gift set that consists of the “Retrospect” fragrance, and a pair of gold studs. For Anna Jewsbury, founder of Completedworks, the design was inspired by the scent, yet also intended to mimic fabric and the way it drapes onto the body — clothing will bunch or gather around the hip or the shoulder. “The earrings we designed are very much a direct response to the fragrance and the silhouette of the bottle. The idea behind the earrings was to create subtle squeezes, pinches and folds, forming aesthetic juxtapositions – the rigid forms flowing with the lightness of fabric.”
