Angela Santana Brings Her Era-Defining Female Forms Back to London

Returning to the Saatchi Yates Gallery with an all-new exhibition this month.

Zurich-born artist Angela Santana is returning to London, once again coming back to Saatchi Yates. Two years after her last exhibition at the gallery, Santana is bringing her unique exploration of the female form back to the city, through a new body of work that aims to “redefine the representation of the female body.”

Exploring how the body is represented in our digital age, the new exhibition touches on themes of identity and transformation, challenging traditional depictions of the female form as we know it. Utilizing the internet as a form of muse, Santana aims to reject the classical and the conservative by deconstructing digital media and reimagining its visuals through large-scale oil canvases.

Focusing on imagery that typically leans toward the male gaze, the artist explores how we present, witness and digest the female nude, hoping to radically reinvent an age-old way of thinking and viewing.

Take a look at some of the works on display above and head to the Saatchi Yates Gallery from January 15 to February 20 to experience Santana’s exhibition for yourself.
