Issey Miyake and Apple Made a New Way To Carry Your Phone

No pockets? No Problem.

An extra pocket, but make it high-fashion. The collaboration we never knew we needed just dropped with Issey Miyake and Apple, taking technological innovation and combining it with luxury design to give us the ultimate way to carry our phones, or whatever you can fit into this sleek little pouch; lipstick, phone, keys?

iPhone Pocket is taken from the concept of “a piece of cloth” with singular 3D-knitted construction inspired by the OG pleats by Issey Miyake, and designed to fit any phone (no need to worry about compatibility here), or any other pocketable items. The ribbed structure was born from the idea of creating an additional pocket, so girls no more stress when your outfit doesn’t have any. The accessory can be worn in a variety of ways: handheld, tied onto your handbag or worn on the body like its own little bag.

The color palette is bright and playful, with the short strap available in eight hues and the long strap in three. Fluorescent yellow and orange feature alongside bright pinks, purples and blues with a black for the minimalists. “The simplicity of its design echoes what we practice at Issey Miyake — the idea of leaving things less defined to allow for possibilities and personal interpretation,” shares Yoshiyuki Miyamae, one of the design directors of Miyake Design Studio. Molly Anderson, Apple’s vice president of Industrial Design, added, “Apple and Issey Miyake share a design approach that celebrates craftsmanship, simplicity and delight. This clever extra pocket exemplifies those ideas and is a natural accompaniment to our products.”

The iPhone Pocket will be available from November 14 via the Apple website and at select stores.
