Raw Mango Celebrates Diwali With a New Film for Apple
Directed by founder Sanjay Garg, “Step Into the Light” explores Indian textile traditions, dance and the beauty of the festival of lights.
Indian fashion label Raw Mango is bringing its thoughtful approach to textile and culture to the screen with “Step Into the Light,” a new Diwali film created in collaboration with Apple. Directed by founder Sanjay Garg and shot entirely on an iPhone 18 Pro, the project captures the spirit of the festival against the backdrop of Tijara Fort, a restored 19th-century royal palace in Rajasthan.
Set to a folk interpretation of Anu Malik’s ’90s track “Roop Suhana Lagta Hai,” the film moves between darkness and light through choreography that blends traditional and contemporary dance. Its vibrant wardrobe brings together textile traditions from across the subcontinent, including Mashru, Varanasi brocades and Chanderi, showcasing the craftsmanship at the heart of Raw Mango’s work.
Founded in 2008 by the textile designer, the label has built a reputation for sparking conversations around Indian textiles and culture through its saris, other garments and creative experiences. Following its first international runway show at London Fashion Week earlier this year, the film offers another opportunity to bring its vision to a global audience.
“Step Into the Light” is now available to watch on Apple’s global Instagram and Indian YouTube channel, with a behind-the-scenes film arriving on Instagram Stories.
