Gigi Hadid Shuts Down Body Shamers with a Series of Powerful Tweets

“Please, as social media users and human beings in general, learn to have more empathy for others.”

After Gigi Hadid paraded down the runway at New York Fashion Week, social media users were quick to comment on the model’s body, shaming her for being “too skinny,” and that her body has changed. The model was quick to shut them down, posting a series of tweets explaining that she has dealt with Hashimoto’s disease, also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis, stating that “over the last few years I’ve been properly medicated to help symptoms including those, as well as extreme fatigue, metabolism issues, body’s ability to retain heat, etc. I was also part of a holistic medical trial that helped my thyroid levels balance out.”
