Disciple's Dreamy Skin Retinyl Oil Cleared up My Facial Scarring
It’s a little miracle.
I’ll be the first to admit I’ve been genetically blessed with good skin. Although like most people I do have occasional breakouts when I’m stressed out, run down or eating exceptionally badly, I’ve been lucky enough to have avoided acne or any major skin issues. That all changed last year however; I was struck down with an illness that left me with some pretty noticeable scars on my face, around my cheeks and eye area.
It definitely knocked my self-confidence and I spent loads of time (and money) trying out every remedy people suggested. From holistic homemade formulas involving aloe vera and coconut oil, to products like Bio-Oil and the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo; nothing seemed to work. That is until I gave London-based brand Disciple‘s Dreamy Skin Retinyl Oil a shot – read on to find out how I got on.
WHAT IS IT: Disciple Dreamy Skin Retinyl
WHY IT’S WORTH THE HYPE: Boasting ingredients like Burdock root, Rosehip and Watermelon seed oil, Frankincense and Jasmine, this 20ml bottle is full of all the good stuff. At bedtime, after cleansing, I massage 4-5 drops onto my face and let the magic go to work overnight. Although I didn’t see results immediately, after around five days of using this product nightly, it was clear that my scars had become smaller in size and less obvious.
Additionally, my face looked less red and my skin tone appeared to be evened out a bit. I’ve continued to use it almost every night since then, and the differences are now more noticeable and I wake each morning with a face that’s more moisturised and has that coveted dewy glow that had eluded me so far. I’ve gone through about a third of the bottle already, but it’s safe to say I’ll be picking up another once this is empty.
Since it’s a product that includes Retinyl, it’s especially important to remember to wear SPF during the day; I pair this with Panacea’s Daily Facial SPF.
WHERE YOU CAN FIND IT: Available at Disciple’s web store and retailers like Cult Beauty for £35 GBP (approx. $45 USD)
