MIETIS' SS22 Collection Is a Lesson in Color-Blocking
The Barcelona brand’s apparel and handbags come in vibrant shades.
Founded by Maria Fontanellas in 2018, MIETIS is a Spanish label that reimagines classic silhouettes like the trench coat, biker jacket and mini skirt with embellishments and color blocking.
For the brand’s latest collection, ready-to-wear pieces and leather handbags have been given a new look inspired by the retro aesthetic of jello desserts from the ’60s and ’70s. “Interiors and architecture have always been in the background of my designs, which allow us to pay special attention to shapes and constructions in the handbag collection,” Fontanellas shares with HYPEBAE. “This season, retro food and dessert advertisements were a key inspiration in how we played with our signature color blocking. We introduced fruity colors and psychedelic lines with this collection, incorporating new elements like padded waves.”
Standouts include the Marieta Orange Bag and Tatu White Bag. Perfect for your everyday looks, the former is dressed in vibrant hues of hot pink, baby pink and orange. The design comes with a structured handle on top and a leather shoulder strap, allowing you to carry it in different ways. The latter bag boasts a modern structure and features hand-painted edges for a more elegant look.
In apparel, the Classic Trench Coat Pistaccio is crafted from 100% calf leather and viscose lining. Meanwhile, the pastel Willy Jacket “Rayo” arrives in a slim fit and sports a lightning bolt motif on the back.
