Our Legacy Breaks Down Formal Wear for FW22

Viewing authority through the eyes of youth.

Following up on its “Deja Vu” Spring/Summer 2022 collection, Our Legacy has now unveiled its Fall/Winter 2022 range.

As seen through the Gen Z face stickers reminiscent of makeup looks in Euphoria, the collection is focused on formal wear seen through the eyes of youth. “I had this roughed up conservative style queued up, having a child in mind, looking up to the authority, feeling small,” the Swedish label’s creative director Christopher Nying explains. “It’s one step into evergreen dressing and a foot in conservative classics, styles that are a bit ‘punctured,’ tweaked and skewed — and also keeping the fine balance between an original occasional wardrobe. Then, some of these styles went into a more kind of distressed office style,” he continues.

The reinterpretation of formal wear is seen through oversized shirts paired with glossy thigh-high boots, boxy overcoats, and distressed tuxedos. The collection maintains a neutral color palette, with subtle pops of purple added to cinched corset tops. Pleated skirts are worn atop wide-legged trousers, accompanying a lace bralette and long shirt. Knit sweaters are layered with shirts, while hoodies are worn under blazers for a semi-casual feel.
