The Sandy Liang Girl Is All Grown up for FW25

Drawing inspiration from the designer’s own adolescence.

“In this collection is a childhood fantasy realized,” explains Sandy Liang‘s Fall/Winter 2025 show notes. Presented at New York Fashion Week, the lauded designer seemed to celebrate the next stage of girlhood, drawing on her own adolescence for inspiration. According to this season’s notes, FW25’s Sandy Liang girl “wears her desires on her sleeve and her schedule on her skirt.”

Blending inspirations from Liang’s favorite films — The Snowman and The Parent Trap — the FW25 collection explored themes of self-actualization and “playful abandon,” living in that sweet spot between girlhood and adulthood. Featuring updated versions of Liang’s signature silhouettes and accessories, the collection was a perfect blend of everything that the designer does so well.

WHO: Lola Tung, Sydney Carlson and Devon Lee Carlson were among some of the notable names in attendance at Liang’s showcase, not forgetting her adorable grandma.

SEE: For her FW25 collection, Liang’s trademark Mary Jane silhouettes were replaced by knee-high boots and kitten heels. Floral skirts were layered over long johns, and bags were borrowed from mom’s closet. Seemingly elevating Liang’s signature girlhood into a transitionary womanhood, the collection featured her staple pieces but with a slightly mature twist. Clashing prints, feminine pinks and playful graphics are featured throughout, complete with “grown-up” details like pearl necklaces and mature up-dos.

TOUCH: Layering and clashing was the name of the game at Sandy’s FW25 show, with soft satins, plush shearling trims and metallic denim adding to the tactility. 3D details like bows and folds appeared on satin dresses and skirts, with textured pieces paired with pared-back knits and cardigans.

TASTE: Overall, Sandy Liang FW25 seemed to tell us that girlhood will always be a source of inspiration, no matter how old you are.
