Lindsay Lohan Admits She's "a Little Jealous" She Grew Up Without Social Media
Revealing that having it would’ve helped control the narrative of her life.
Lindsay Lohan spent the early days of her career constantly monitored by paparazzi, which is why she she believes the existence of social media back then could’ve been beneficial to her.
When first asked about social media usage, Lohan had mixed feelings. “I don’t even know. There’s too much of it,” she told Cosmopolitan before clarifying what she means based on her personal experiences in the industry. “No, it is nice. Because now I feel like …When I first started out in the business, none of us had a say in how to control our own narrative.”
She continued, “There were paparazzi pictures, and then people ran with it. So I think it’s really good that in this day and age, people can say who they are and who they want to be. And I admire and appreciate that. I’m a little jealous because I didn’t have that. But I think it moves really fast and I just try to keep up as best I can. And I check everything before I post it. I’ll send it to people. Because you have to.”
Lohan, along with other stars like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, were constant targets for paparazzi back then. The Mean Girls alum even offers a glimpse of that lifestyle in her “Rumors” music video. Thankfully, things seem to have slightly changed for the better.
