Bad Bunny Makes History as 'Billboard's First Latin Artist to Rank No. 1 on Both Year-End Charts
For artist and album.
Bad Bunny made history once again — this time on the Billboard charts. The Puerto Rico native has ranked No. 1 on both year-end charts for artist and album (Un Verano Sin Ti). He’s the first Latin artist ever to accomplish this.
“It’s both the first time that an act that primarily records in Spanish is the year’s top artist, and a mostly non-English-language set is the biggest album of the year. (Billboard began compiling the year-end Top Artists category in 1981, and albums in 1956.)” reads a report by Billboard.
This is a major milestone for Bad Bunny as Un Verano Sin Ti, released in May, is the second all-Spanish-language album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200; his third solo studio album, El Ultimo Tour Del Mundo, was the first in 2020.
This isn’t the only recent accomplishment for Bad Bunny. Earlier this week, he was named Spotify‘s most streamed artist in the world for the third year in a row. He’s also Apple Music and Pandora‘s top artist this year.
