Tesla Could Begin Production of Its Optimus Robot in 2023
We could be seeing the first version of the humanoid bot really soon.
Elon Musk has revealed that Tesla is aiming to start production of its Optimus humanoid robot next year.
The futuristic bot was first revealed at the company’s AI Day in August 2021 and has been described to eliminate “dangerous, repetitive, boring tasks” for humans. During his recent presentation at the Cyber Rodeo event in Texas, Musk revealed his further plans: “We have a shot of being in production for version one of Optimus hopefully next year.”
Measuring 5 feet and 7 inches tall, the robot is designed to be “safe.” Musk elaborated: “As you see Optimus develop, everyone’s going to make sure it’s safe. No Terminator stuff or that kind of thing.” To ensure that it won’t be able to overpower humans, the robot is designed to be weaker and slower, with a maximum speed of 5mph.
Stay tuned as we learn more about Tesla’s Optimus humanoid robot.
