Pete Davidson Bids Farewell to 'Saturday Night Live' After 8 Years

The comedian shared an emotional goodbye letter via Dave Sirus’ Instagram account.

Pete Davidson has officially ended his time on Saturday Night Live after eight years of being on the show.

The comedian took to Dave Sirus‘ Instagram to share his farewell letter with fans, which was accompanied by a video taken eight years ago featuring himself hugging Jerrod Carmichael. “Jerrod sent it to me last night and it made me super emotional in the best way,” Davidson said. “In the video, I had just gotten back from doing my very first update and sketch. It’s crazy to think that today I’ll be doing my last one.”

Admitting he had no clue what he was doing the first time he joined SNL at the age of 20, Davidson revealed that he “wasn’t really a sketch performer.” “I knew I could never keep up or go toe to toe with a Kenan Thompson or a Kate McKinnon, so I was super scared at figuring out what I could possibly bring to or do for such a historic, respected show and platform,” he added.

Davidson concluded his message by saying, “SNL is my home. I’m so happy and sad about tonight’s show. For so many reasons I can’t explain. Can’t wait to be back next year in a [John] Mulaney musical number.”

Girlfriend Kim Kardashian showed her support on her Instagram Story by creating a collage of her boyfriend’s past appearances on the show, including images of him with Colin Jost, Michael Che, Alex Moffat and John Mulaney.
