Demi Lovato and Ashlee Simpson Join Forces To Perform "La La"

It’s 2004 again, and we L.O.V.E. it.

For one of Demi Lovato‘s recent concerts, the pop-rock singer surprised fans when she brought out Ashlee Simpson on stage to perform her hit song “La La.”

“Please give it up for Ashlee Simpson,” Lovato said before the pair jammed out to the 2004 hit off Simpson’s Autobiography album. This performance is especially rare for Simpson, who hasn’t released any new music since 2019.

Lovato released her eighth studio album, Holy Fvck, in August, and it’s her way of returning to her pop-rock roots. In a recent interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, Lovato talked about how Simpson, among others, inspired her rock era.

“I saw the transformation of her as an artist go from R&B soul pop to pop rock,” Lovato said about Kelly Clarkson. “And I was like, ‘Wait, that’s what I want to do!’ And there was also Ashlee Simpson ‘LaLa,’ and I was like, ‘I want to do that!’ So I got inspired, and then I found bands like Paramore and Flyleaf.”

Check out the performance below.
