Self-Portrait Delivers a Candy Colored Palette for SS23

Ranging from bright neons to soft degrade hues.

London-based label Self-Portrait explored a new sartorial mood for its Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Under the helm of Han Chong, the brand presented a range of candy-colored pieces to welcome the new season.

“I wanted to create a collection that was vibrant and sensual and full of energy, one that celebrates the evenings both in and out,” the label shared in a press release. “We’ve introduced new styles, effortless silhouettes and an upbeat palette of colors from bright neons to soft degradé hues. The ambition was really to present a very joyful collection.”

Chong captured a sense of femininity and playfulness with a melange of effortless yet impactful garments. Embellished maxi dresses are the lineup’s main star while lace separates, elegant gowns and statement swim wears seemed made as a new summer staple. The range also features the brand’s affair with mesh, crystals and fishnet fabrics, which are reimagined in a variety of bodycon silhouettes. Elsewhere, short-sleeved cropped top, mini skirts and flirty denim sets completed the collection.

Candy-colored hues like blue, lilac, pink, mint green, yellow and orange dominate the collection while hints of cobalt blue, aqua, nude, tan, soft gold are seen on the lineup.

Self-Portrait also tapped Gigi Hadid to star in its SS23 preview. “Gigi really captures the electricity of these new design against New York City’s vibrant backdrop,” Chong wrote. For this campaign, the brand took its garments to a more natural and urban setting to connect more to its customers.
