South Sudanese Model Anok Yai Stars in Acne Studios' FW23
Inspired by the “fantasy forest” from the brand’s FW23 show.
Acne Studios just released its new Fall/Winter 2023 campaign, starring New York-based, South Sudanese model Anok Yai.
Lensed by long-term collaborator and Paris-based photographer Carlijn Jacobs, the campaign takes us to an enchanted landscape, drawing influence from the “fantasy forest” that defined the brand’s FW23 show.
Yai spotlights a series of key looks, styled by Léopold Duchemin, showcasing Acne Studios’ signature DIY techniques and distressed leather, alongside delicate tops, sheer neon dresses and delicately draped fabrics and cut-outs. Elsewhere, the campaign debuts the new Multipocket bag — a distressed, collapsed satchel-style silhouette inspired by vintage cameras.
“With this collection, I was thinking about the dark winters we have in Sweden, where there are only [a] few hours of daylight. I wanted to capture the beauty of the darkness in both the collection and the set. Sweden is the kind of place where the city ends abruptly and then the pine forest begins,” says Jonny Johansson, creative director of Acne Studios.
