ASICS x Fujitaka Drop Towel-Inspired GEL-NYC

Crafted from surplus luxury towels.

ASICS‘ collaborations are a dime a dozen, but its latest partnership with luxury towel brand Fujitaka is an unexpected pairing.

The Japanese manufacturer is known for its high-quality bath accessories and is now applying its expertise to the classic GEL-NYC sneaker. Appearing in “French Blue” and “Grand Shark” colorways, the silhouette is skillfully crafted from unused thread and luxury towels. The multicolored laces are comprised of the surplus thread, lending to their ultra-soft texture, joining white stitching on the sides. The extra towels find themselves on the eyelets, back tag and webbed embroidery on the upper toe box. GEL-NYC’S trademark cushioning in the white outsole results in an even more plush sneaker, while the midsole appears in a midnight navy blue.

The ASICS x Fujitaka GEL-NYC collaboration will be available on Friday, October 6 in Japan with a global release online following afterwards. Take a closer look in the gallery above.
