KFC and Proper Celebrate Their New Partnership With a Chicken Popcorn Ring

If you liked it then you should’ve put a (popcorn chicken popcorn) ring on it.

KFC just teamed up with PROPER for the foodie collaboration of the century: popcorn chicken popcorn and to celebrate, the snack-loving duo are commemorating their partnership with this season’s must-have accessory: the popcorn chicken popcorn ring. That’s right, ring.

Working with artist and designer Anna Lomax, the new release lands in the form of a 9-carat, gold-plated ring inspired by popcorn buckets and KFC’s signature stripes. “A lot of my work is inspired by placing objects in unlikely places — so what better than a popcorn and fried chicken-inspired ring?” notes Lomax.

She explains, “The design process involved 3D scanning both popcorn kernels and popcorn chicken, so these textures could be incorporated into the ring. The overall design is inspired by 1970s nugget rings, swapping out the traditional finish for the 3D scanned popcorn texture and combining it with a square mount sovereign shape — echoing the iconic shape of KFC’s Popcorn Chicken Box.”

To celebrate the release, PROPER teamed up with Nella Rose, Lina Mar and House of Dvey for a tongue-in-cheek campaign that sees the creators styling the rings in their own distinctive ways.
