Up There and ASICS Take Flight With a Kookaburra-Themed GEL-LYTE III
Paying homage to the Australian bird.
Australian brand Up There is joining cross-continental forces with Japanese footwear label ASICS, co-creating the GEL-LYTE III.
The brown and blue sneaker is inspired by the Kookaburra, a bird native to both Australia and New Guinea, which is distinguished by its loud laugh. The shoe’s upper is comprised of mesh and suede, moving between an off-white and shaggy chocolate brown, using a speckled pattern to bridge the gap between the two contrasting shades. Lateral ASICS branding welcomes a bright sea blue, making another appearance on the rubber outsole. Meanwhile, the outsole bears a true white interrupted by a cream hue in the middle.
The collaborative design will be initially released through a raffle on Up There’s website from now until October 27 with the shoe priced at $150 USD. A global release follows the raffle, dropping the sneaker via ASICS and select retailers on November 4.
