Vans and SZA Take It up a Notch With VANSZA Drop 1
Introducing two new slip-on sneaker styles, straight from SZA’s creative mind.
SZA is taking her creative direction to new heights with the launch of VANSZA Drop 1, a collaborative footwear and apparel collection with Vans that merges nature, utility and self-expression.
Designed for ease and exploration, the collection redesigns classic Vans silhouettes through SZA’s personal lens. Leading the footwear range are the VANSZA Knu Skool Mule and the VANSZA Authentic Kickdown. Tailored for effortless wear, the Authentic Kickdown features custom artwork by Sage Adams, distressed canvas and a collapsible heel, while the Knu Skool Mule strips away the back entirely.
“I needed everything to be slide-on-able,” SZA shared in a press release, referencing her childhood habit of stepping on the backs of her shoes. “Less effort. More fun. More accessibility. More comfort. More color.”
Beyond footwear, the apparel and accessories channel a vintage outdoor aesthetic infused with a DIY ethos. The wider collection includes workwear-inspired oversized jackets, relaxed cargo pants and playful fish-inspired graphics.
The accompanying campaign, shot by photographer India Sleem against California’s sun-drenched landscapes, features a cast representing SZA’s creative community. The lineup includes Vans Skate Team rider Zion Wright, plus models Caylee Blosenski and Isabella Carr, alongside singer-songwriter Vans.
Mark your calendars: VANSZA Drop 1 launches on October 22 on the Vans website and select retailers.
