Balenciaga's New Campaign Is Probably Not What You're Looking For...
Let’s just say, it’s different.
In line with a new, more self-aware approach and tongue-in-cheek taste, the campaign aims to celebrate distinctive Balenciaga silhouettes and designs in a new context. Large-scale images of pointed boots, logo bags, oversized jackets and leather trousers are laid out alongside taglines like “It’s different,” “No blabla” and “Probably not what you’re looking for,” aiming to poke fun at the brand, letting the world know it’s not taking itself too seriously.
Each piece is showcased in a spot-lit snapshot, emulating the aesthetic of historic artefacts and archival studies typically found in museums or exhibitions. The new approach lands almost a year after Balenciaga first came under fire for its controversial campaigns, which the brand has since taken multiple steps to correct.
