How The Oh Collective’s Sisterhood is Transforming Sexual Wellness

And why creating your own sexual wellness routine is essential.

“Growing up, the concept of sex was vague and only seen as a task [conducive to] starting a family,” says Simona Xu, one of the four founders of The Oh Collective. “[Sex] wasn’t something that could be fun, enjoyable or beneficial. We wanted to change that.” Together with besties Diana Lin, Winxi Kan and Eden Chiang, they did just that: leaving behind their jobs at Nike to venture into the world of sexual wellness with the aim of destigmatizing pleasure.

“I can remember growing up as a 12-year-old going through my 12-year-old friends and their parents just telling them that, hey, you should explore yourself,” recalls Diana of her experience visiting friends and growing up in the Netherlands. Yet at home, she was told the opposite: that touching herself was a shameful act, and not something she should do. “We had similar kind of values and misunderstandings, I would say. And ultimately, we were just tired of having bad sex.”

“We started giving each other challenges and weekly nudges over dinner,” explains Diana. “And that kind of accelerated into us experiencing and exploring ourselves, and seeing the benefits of putting our bodies first. We just felt like it was such a fun, opening experience for us that we wanted to share it with other women.” That soon grew into a community, and before long, into products, including sex toys – like their best-selling flexible vibrator “Kit” – and self-care products that focus on the mind-body connection.

In this episode of Servin’ Sex, The Oh Collective founders also share their top tips on how to create your very own sexual wellness routine, including personal anecdotes about how they have gone about it. They also share their tips on how to introduce sex toys to your relationship. If you’re a booktok lover, make sure you stay tuned in for their best book recommendations, too.
