This Clay Mask Saved My Tired, Winter-Worn Skin

Created by Hollywood’s favorite facialist, no less.

Brace yourselves, winter is coming—for your skin. This season promises to wreak havoc on our faces because of the cold air, leading to dry, dehydrated, and even chapped skin. The best way to protect your face from these negative effects? Invest in your skincare. And start now. Incorporating a foolproof beauty routine can ensure that you get that much-needed nourishment to prevent red and itchy skin. A good face cream is important, but depending on the weather conditions, it might not be enough. I’ve started using Shani Darden’s Signature Nourishing Facial Mask to replenish and moisturize my skin. Keep reading to learn more about why this product has become my skincare go-to for the winter months.

Shani Darden’s Signature Nourishing Facial Mask: The Rundown

Price: $58USD (£46GBP)
Rating: 5/5
Best For: soothing stressed skin in a super sensitive way.

Shani Darden’s Signature Nourishing Facial Mask: Why the Hype

The prolific Shani Darden is well-known for being one of Hollywood’s favorite facialists, with celebrities like Jessica Alba, Shay Mitchell and Kelly Rowland flocking to her Beverly Hills studio. Darden’s signature treatments have proven time and time again to deliver a youthful glow. And in 2019 she finally released her own (much-anticipated) skincare line. The Signature Nourishing Facial Mask is one of the latest additions and recreates the hand-whipped version offered in-house at her studio.

This nourishing clay mask uses squalane, colloidal oatmeal, and a soothing triple-tea complex to soothe inflammation, while at the same time leaving skin radiant, replenished, and plump. According to the brand, 90% of those who used the product saw an increase in skin radiance in just 28 days.

Shani Darden’s Signature Nourishing Facial Mask: An Honest Review

Personally, I have trouble using moisturizing masks because I have oily and combination skin—they tend to leave me with a giant breakout, even in the winter when I may be on the drier side. This mask did quite the opposite, leaving me quite impressed. This facial mask is made of clay, so it draws out impurities in a gentle way, leaving my acne-prone skin clean and fresh. At the same time, its hydrating ingredients (like squalane and glycerin) work to fully lock in moisture, giving me that extra winter boost of hydration I so desperately need.

I found that the product (as opposed to other clay masks) came off quite easily after use and that it left my skin looking polished and super quenched. I noticed that using this mask two to three times a week has given me an extra layer of protection for the season. While we’re not deep into winter yet, it is pretty cold where I live, yet I haven’t had any of that blotchy, dry skin I’ve come to expect when the temperatures get this low.

Yes, it is on the higher end when it comes to price, but so far I think it is worth the investment. My logic is that you’ll likely end up using it consistently and, because of the generous packaging, it might even last you two winters.

Final Verdict

My tired skin felt revitalized and fresh, with the added bonus of unclogged pores—an undisputed win in my book. I’ll be keeping this facial mask in my repertoire for years to come.
