After rumors had been circling that Linda Yaccarino, who previously worked at NBCUniversal, was going to be the new CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk finally confirmed the news on Friday, May 12.

“I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter!” he wrote in a tweet. @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”

Prior to that, Musk teased Yaccarino’s role, revealing some details about their dynamic. “Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter,” he previously wrote, making sure to not reveal it was Yaccarino at the time. “She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”
