Ed Sheeran Has Considered Switching Over to Country Music

“I love the culture of it, I just love the songwriting,” he says.

On Friday, May 12, Ed Sheeran released a new version of “Life Goes On” featuring Luke Combs, giving fans a small taste of country music. It turns out, Sheeran would actually love to make more country music; implying he’s even considered completely switching over to the genre.

“I talk about this to my wife all the time. I would love to transition into country,” he told Billboard. “I love the culture of it, I just love the songwriting. It’s just like brilliant songs.”

Sheeran has lived in Nashville in the past, which has made him an even bigger country music fan. “It’s like a community,” he added. “There’s not really a place in Europe where you could point and say, ‘That’s the home of songwriting.’ It’s not just for country music. Nashville is just a hub of incredible songwriters, incredible performers. And I really felt inspired just being there being around everyone.”

Earlier this month, Sheeran dropped his most personal album to date — Subtract.

Stay tuned for more news on Sheeran.
