Are You “Micro-Cheating?” — Here Are 5 Signs You’re Guilty
Relationship experts coin a sneaky dating trend.
A new dating trend has just been coined in India — but it taps bull-shit we’re all quite familiar with.
What is micro-cheating?
According to research, micro-cheating is not exactly infidelity, but totes that fine line. More specifically, it “describes behaviors that are not usually considered true infidelity but may have some indicators of infidelity,” shared India Today during its analysis of cultural trends. For example, dishonesty, secrecy and ignoring the “would my partner feel comfortable with this” radar. It’s essentially emotional and psychological cheating that can lead to physical cheating.
Why do people micro-cheat?
According to matchmaker and relationship coach Radhika Mohta, “In the name of monogamy and being with the same person, people may find it to be a bit monotonous or too routine, so just finding a little escape here and there can be called micro-cheating. It does mean a physical connection with somebody outside your relationship, it can also be an emotional connection which is getting stronger than your existing relationship,” she closed.
Here are 5 signs of micro-cheating — are you guilty?
1. “Sharing numbers with random strangers you meet at a bar or on a trip.”
2. Sending flirty texts to others — knowing your partner would not approve.
3. Hiding your relationship status under the guise of “privacy.”
4. Keeping your online dating profile despite being monogamous.
5. Hiding interactions or friendships with your ex.
