Nike Celebrates Hip Hop With the Air Force 1 "Bronx Origins"

Celebrating the genre’s 50th anniversary.

Hip-hop is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2023, inspiring brands to commemorate the undoubtedly impactful music genre.

No other style has been worn by hop-hop artists as much as the Air Force 1 has, which is Nike is reimagining its signature silhouette. Initially released last year in white for AF1’s 40th anniversary, “Bronx Origins” is getting a remix.

The colorway now welcomes shades of black and gold, resulting in a design that delivers swagger in spades. The body boasts black leather paneling broken up by a dark gray midfoot, which bears a slick Swoosh pattern. Gold iridescent Swooshes liven up the otherwise dark shoe, while the lustrous hue also touches the tongue and heel branding. New York City-themed records take the place of traditional dubraes, nodding to the influential industry. The beat keeps going as a “Golden Celebration” sits inside of the sockliner. Elsewhere, “BRONX ORIGINS” rests boldly on the white sole unit’s translucent outsole.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Bronx Origins” in black is set to be released on August 11 via Nike and select retailers at a starting price of $150 USD. Take a look in the gallery above.
